Whiplash Prognosis

Insurance companies often times use "cookie cutter" time frames when estimating the healing time of all injuries including Whiplash after an Auto Accident. They typically say that most whiplash will heal in 6 weeks and that care after that time period is unnecessary. Many patients do recover in 6-8 weeks (the typical time period for any sprain/strain to heal)  however, many studies show that 20-30% of patient symptoms can take up to a year to heal completely, sometimes more.

There are certain symptoms of whiplash that can complicate the case and cause it to take longer to heal. Some of these are: Intrascapular/upper mid back pain, occipital headache, referred pain into the arms, paresthesias, presence of neurological deficits, and pre-existing osteoarthritis of the neck.

Receiving treatment of Chiropractic Care can greatly reduce one's healing time while recovering from Auto Accident induced Whiplash.
